Helmets and eye protection explained

Choose protection around the venue rules first, then fit the rest of the helmet and face setup around comfort and visibility.

Eye protection is non-negotiable

Use eye protection that the operator accepts and that is designed for impact protection. Ordinary workshop glasses, fashion eyewear and unverified mesh products should not be treated as automatically safe.

Full-seal goggles, low-profile glasses and integrated lower-face systems each have different fogging, fit and compatibility considerations. Test the seal and field of view before game day.

What a helmet can and cannot do

A bump-style helmet can provide mounting space, weather protection and impact coverage around the head, but it is not automatically ballistic protection. Fit, retention, ventilation and compatibility with goggles or comms matter more than appearance.

If a venue does not require a helmet, prioritise the protection and comfort that improve your actual day rather than adding weight simply to complete a look.
