Plate carriers, chest rigs and comms

Load-bearing equipment

Plate carrier versus chest rig

Compare protection, weight, ventilation and capacity for CQB, woodland and MilSim play.

Choose the lightest setup that works

A chest rig is often lighter, cooler and easier to adjust for a casual skirmish. It can carry magazines, water and a few essentials without committing you to a full armour-style platform.

A plate carrier gives more structure and space for armour-shaped inserts, cummerbunds and modular pouches. It can suit players who need a larger load or a consistent MilSim configuration, but unnecessary weight increases fatigue.

Think about access and movement

Place the items you use most where you can reach them without twisting or blocking your replica. Test shouldering, crawling, sitting and moving through doorways before game day.

A good loadout is quiet, balanced and repairable. Secure loose straps and avoid adding pouches simply because empty space is available.
